This post shows how I transformed garage to El Garage.
Since I don’t have sports car to hide inside garage and I’m a parliar boozer (i.e. kaki botol or 酒鬼), I decided to transform the garage at Mok Residence PD into a garage theme pub and named it “El Garage”, my very own small pub. El Garage started its operation on January 2009.

Celine was in charged of the renovation coordination task. She was 1 year and 2 months old.

And I was the part time painter.

My brother the rocker, playing Wii Guitar Hero.

No pub will be complete without the following items:
1. a theme: Yes. Garage, red brick and wood.
2. beer signs: Yes. I asked my friend who is working at GAB, he couldn’t help (Cxxxx, you sucks). I asked my friend’s friends who are working at GAB, they couldn’t help too. I even offered to pay for it but failed too. Finally, Brother Benson and MeiLeng went all the way to Klang and removed 2 beer signs from the wall of a pub. Appreciated.
3. pool table: Yes. MeiSei found me a fairly good condition 2nd hand pool table from a pub owner friend.
4. beer tap: Not yet. This is slightly difficult, but I will get one soon.

Off topic
At the time we got the CF of the house, we had barely 10 weeks to reach Chinese New Year 2009. Immediately I targeted to move in before CNY 2009. None of the people around me said that is possible, especially when we decided to rebuild the entire dining hall, wet and dry kitchen, build a fish pond with waterfall and my brilliant idea of El Garage. Even renovation contractors said that is totally impossible (when they say 10-week work means they need 20 weeks, when they say impossible means seriously IMPOSSIBLE).
My only answer was “Don’t worry, I’ll make it!”.
To minimise cost and speed up the entire process, I appointed different groups of contractors who agreed and capable to meet the deadline, from wet works to landscaping to electrical to build-in furniture. As usual, I don’t have main contractor or interior designer as I rather do it myself to ensure no delay and lower cost.
I always enjoy the process of doing this, from planning and designing to finding and scolding contractors, from sourcing materials to buying furniture and appliances, even small items such as switches and wine glasses.
Most of the electrical appliances, lightings and furniture were bought from Kuala Lumpur and delivered to Port Dickson. As the Chinese New Year 2009 holiday (also Christmas, New Year 2009) was approaching, most of the furniture/electrical shops were having tight delivery schedule, I then became a night shift lorry driver, delivering goods from KL back to PD every day for a complete month.
Everything went smooth, luckily. We moved into the house with everything fitted perfectly, just 2 days before Chinese New Year 2009 and had our open house ceremony during the CNY 2009 holiday.

Also, El Garage started its business (i.e. party time) on time, we had numerous parties held here, including this.

* kicked off a new 2-year project, hope everything goes smooth and fast *
